For those of you who missed the round one stats, here is a quick overview of how it works:
Basically, we are trying to compare apples with apples, so to speak. For instance, comparing different players’ individual contributions on the field, based on the amount of time they spent on the field, with the ball in “Active Play” (all stoppages aside).
This enables us to compare a player’s contribution, over various categories, even if they only played the last 20 minutes of the game. A player who only played 20 minutes of the game would find it difficult to have the same tackle count as a player in the same position who played a full 80 minutes. So by having a pro rata view of the stats, we know how effectively each player used their allotted time on the field.
- Only players who were on the field for longer that 10 minutes are considered. Those who weren’t have N/A next to their names.
- The top 2 and bottom 2 stats for each section are highlighted in green and red respectively
