We have just received a report of an “incident” involving Blue Bulls player, Bees Roux, and a Metro policeman, in which the policeman passed away. At this time there isn’t a lot of information available, but we will keep you updated as we are.

The following from the Blue Bulls camp: It has come to the Blue Bulls Company (Pty) Ltd’s attention that Bees Roux has allegedly been involved in an incident involving a metro policeman last night in Pretoria.  We do not have any factual information at this stage, but have been informed that the policeman passed away.  We would like to express our sincerest condolences to the relatives of the deceased.

We are not in a position to make any further comments in this regard.  The matter will be handled by Bees Roux’s legal representatives EW Serfontein and Partners Incorporated.

At this time, there still isn’t a lot of information available, but I did find this seemingly related article on News24:

“A Tshwane metro police officer died after being allegedly assaulted by an unidentified member of the public in Pretoria early hours of Friday morning, paramedics said.

Details of the alleged assault were still unclear, but the officer was found by paramedics critically injured and lying in the middle of Schoeman Street, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.

The officer died moments later due to extensive injuries he had sustained.”

Apparently Roux has since been arrested for murder. At this point he remains in police custody, and looks likely to spend the weekend behind bars, until he can get a court appearance on Monday. No further information is available yet, but we will try keep you updated on the situation.
