Francois Hougaard showed great strength

The Blue Bulls came from behind to beat a depleted Griquas team 25 – 24 in the dying moments, through a late Pedrie Wannenberg try at the weekend. The Griquas continued there strong showing in this years Currie Cup competition until the Blue Bulls were able to take advantage of the depleted Griquas team after referee Willie Roos reduced them to 13 men.

It will be interesting to see if the Griquas can keep up there good form with their away games this season. Even more interesting to see will be whether Griquas fullback, Riaan Viljoen gets snapped up by one of the bigger unions, who by this stage in the competition must be interested on his massive boot.

Even though Pedrie Wannenberg’s late try won the match, the try of the match, in my opinion, belonged to Francois Hougaard, who showed great strength in breaking through 3 or 4 tackles to go over the line.

Jonathan Mokuena had another strong performance. He walks a close line with the edge of the law. Unfortunately for the Griquas, it caught up with him this time around, costing him 10 minutes in the bin, and ultimately cosing his team the match.

For those of you who watched the WP VS Boland game, which was aired in the same timeslot, here are the highlights:
