After a disappointing start to the IRB 7′s circuit in Dubai, the Springbok 7′s team will be looking to defend their title in the George leg of the series.

News this morning was that speedster, Rayno Benjamin has been dropped from the squad for this leg of the series, due to a breach in team protocol. What his offence was is not clear, but the concerning thing about it is that the Springbok squad may now lack an adequate number of genuine gas men.

As always, New Zealand looked the team to beat in the Dubai leg, and unfortunately I don’t think that is going to change come this weekends games. Perhaps the home field advantage and the desire to defend the George title will work in the Springbok’s favour.
