The Springbok squad enjoyed their first training session today at Fourway’s High School in Johannesburg, with the exception of the victorious Bulls players who have been given the week off for their efforts.

I always enjoy watching footage of the various rugby squads at training sessions, as I feel we as the general public, and especially here in South Africa, aren’t exposed to that side of things very often.

I was lucky enough to watch the 2008 Springbok squad training at UCT before the November tour and it was great to watch. I got some footage of the scrumming session that perhaps I’ll post some time. I’ve never seen a pack of forwards get that low in the scrum. and judging by the fact that this year’s squad is very similar to the one of last year, I think we stand a good chance of manning up to the B&I Lions upfront. Enough of that though.

Here is a short clip I found on The Times website of today’s training session including short interviews with PDV, John Smit and Jean De Villiers.
